China’s car sales increased by 11.5% last month compared with the same period last year, and the Chinese government’s policy to promote sales of new energy vehicles seems to have achieved results.

According to the US “Wall Street Journal” website reported on May 11, China Association of Automobile Manufacturers released data show that China's new energy vehicle sales in April reached 81,904 units, while January-April new energy vehicle sales reached 225,000, year-on-year Increased by 149%.

According to reports, China's auto sales growth during the whole year will accelerate with time. Therefore, many analysts believe that China's new energy vehicle sales this year is expected to exceed one million for the first time. Last year, sales of new energy vehicles in China were 777,000.

According to the report, the Chinese government’s goal is to achieve sales of new energy vehicles to 2 million by 2020, and to provide incentives and purchase restrictions for gasoline vehicles to achieve this goal. In the first quarter of 2018, China contributed about half of the global sales of new energy vehicles.

The China Association of Automobile Manufacturers also stated on the 11th that China’s total automobile sales in April increased to 2.32 million, of which passenger vehicle sales increased by 11.2% to 1.91 million vehicles.

China's total automobile sales in January-April totaled 9.5 million vehicles, an increase of 4.8% over the same period in 2017.

According to reports, Assistant Secretary-General Chen Shihua of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers said that the strong growth rate in the first quarter of this year may not be sustainable because of the particularly weak sales during the first few months of last year, making the data for January-April of 2018 appear somewhat artificially high.
